Production Renews on ‘The Batman’ Movie following COVID-19 Scare
The newest Batman movie – titled “The Batman” – is continuing with production following a work stoppage due to COVID-19 concerns. The issue was a positive test for star Robert Pattinson who is staring in the film.
The production, filming near London at Leavesden Studios, stopped on September 3rd according to reports of Pattinson’s illness. Pattinson’s positive test was reported by Vanity Fair but no official word was ever given by his representatives or by the studio.
Regardless of verification or not, the lights are coming back on and the cameras are rolling.
Other aspects of the production, not involving Pattinson and others that may have been exposed, continued during the brief shutdown. That work mostly centered around set construction and other aspects of the movie that did not involve the main star or other actors and workers who were possibly infected.
Pattinson was panned by some fans of the Batman character as being too small and not imposing enough following news of him being selected for the part. Some may have changed their minds following the release of a teaser trailer in August.

The trailer showed a darker, more menacing Batman than expected. It also signaled a return to the detective aspect of the character which was present in the early comics as well as the 1960’s TV show starring Adam West.
Pattinson becomes the 12th actor to portray the Caped Crusader on the Big Screen including live-action and animated movies. Lewis Wilson first took up the role in 1943 for a 15-chapter film serial. Robert Lowery took over the role in 1949 for a second 15-chapter serial.
