While the pandemic has had a devastating impact on most in-person retail, it has been something of a boom for online retailers. People still need to buy things. As such, many are turning to online retailers like Amazon to get what they need.

The online giant says that it plans to open 100 new facilities this month. These locations along with other of the newest facilities are where the new jobs will be located.

All of these locations, and more, are needed to support the fulfillment of and delivery of the growing number of orders.

There will be a mix of full-time and part-time Amazon jobs related to this announcement.

The jobs announced today, are in addition to approximately 33,000 corporate jobs that we wrote about in a related Amazon article.

Why work for Amazon?

Amazon jobs are becoming more and more sought-after as a quality blue-collar job.

In addition to starting pay of $15 per hour or more, the positions include benefits. Full-time Amazon employees receive health, vision and dental insurance. The company provides a 50% match on 401(k) contributions.

20 weeks of paid parental leave is a somewhat unique benefit that the company also offers. While most companies offer paid leave for mother’s after the birth of a child, providing leave for the new father is rare.
