Love has since used his platform to talk about the topic of mental health and depression, saying that he himself struggles with depression. The topic did not really surface again until a recent interview from this past week.

Kevin Love had a much deeper discussion about his personal battles with depression to the point where he began talking about suicide.

He stated that during his time with the Timberwolves he had actually searched for ways to kill himself on the internet. But the interview from this week was about how Love still battles with those thoughts today.

Suicidal thoughts are not something that goes away over time, as he stated “You don’t get to turn it on or turn it off”. This issue certainly is a sensitive one, but it goes to show that even celebrities deal with these issues and they are still normal human beings too.

What Love credited his help to was knowing that there is strength in numbers. He knew that he was not the only one dealing with these issues and there were other people who felt just like him.

Love wanted to survive and thrive to lead the way for others struggling with the issue and show them you can get through the tough times. It is a sad issue, but the causes are mostly out of our control. However, you do have the power to fight back.

A typical October or November start was simply not possible based on when the season ended this year. As such, the NBA has announced the 2021 season will instead begin on December 22nd 2020.

This may seem like it is coming up quick, and it is, leaving an off-season of only about a month or two. For many, it came as quite a shock that the players would agree to this deal – having such little time off.

Regardless, the deal was agreed upon by the NBA’s Players Association. It is important to note however that the start date is tentative.

League commissioner Adam Silver stated that he realistically does not believe the 2021 NBA season will begin until after the New Year.

Additionally, they expect the season to end before Mid-July to avoid a potential conflict with the previously postponed 2020 Summer Olympics.

The result will be a shorter than usual 72-game season. Ten games short of the regular 82 games.

This does give rise a lot of excitement in the basketball world. But it also has a lot of fans raising questions about how the health of many players will hold up through the 2021 season – having so little time to recover.

Playing a sport for so long requires athletes to take care of themselves and spend adequate time recovering. That recovery time is being reduced for many players by this one month off-season.

As a result, sadly, fans may need to be prepared for a higher amount of injury in the 2021 NBA season. Despite the challenges, it will be exciting to see the NBA return in a month or so. Fingers crossed of course!

These are INSANE numbers to be putting up in any type of competitive game. Now LaMelo Ball has gone around the world playing professionally in two different countries. Additionally, he has even branded his own shoe – all before even entering the NBA.

Manny Pacquiao is a forty-one-year-old boxer from the Philippines and is also a senator for the country. Throughout his career, he has been known as an excellent boxer – never backing down from a challenge. This fierce competitiveness has earned him the nickname “PacMan.”

Conor McGregor is known as much more of a ‘wild man’ from Ireland. In his spare time, he is an owner of his own successful whiskey company.

McGregor is a notorious MMA fighter – not a boxer. However, this fact did not stop him from challenging the undefeated Floyd “Money” Mayweather to a boxing match.

That first cross-fight bout between the MMA and the boxing world led to one of the biggest pay-per-view matches in sports history.

It certainly got the attention of fans everywhere, even those who had never watched a boxing or MMA match before.

Expanding on the success of that event, McGregor and Pacquiao announced last week that they will fight in an, as yet, undisclosed location. Possibly in the Middle East.

McGregor chose to challenge Manny Pacquiao, because this was one of Floyd Mayweather’s final opponents before retirement. It’s a chance for McGregor to show that he is not afraid to challenge the best of the best in either discipline of fighting.

When accepting the challenge, Pacquiao announced that he would be donating his winnings to the Philippines relief fund for COVID-19.

It is still unknown as to why McGregor chose the Middle East as a possible destination to fight. Perhaps because it is geographically in the middle of the world between Ireland and the Philippines.

On Thursday, September 17, 2020, scores were relatively low for a US Open with Justin Thomas sitting on top of the leaderboard with a score of five under par. Rory McIlroy was just behind with a score of three under par.

These scores came from excellent tee shots all day long which helped them gain a combined 6.5 strokes off the tee to get off to a flaming hot start.

Either the course this year is playing a lot easier, or the players are much better than their peers from years past.

When the US Open was played at the Winged Foot golf course in 2006, there were only 12 rounds scored in the 60’s during the entire four days of the tournament. This year in contract, on Thursday alone there were 21 rounds in the 60s.  

As today’s final round of the US Open got underway Matt Wolff was sitting on top of the leaderboard with a score of five under par. Bryson DeChambeau was hot on his tail with a score of three under par.

The competitor in third place is even par showing the big buffer between first, second, and third place. With a majority of the final round still left to play anything can happen which is what makes the US Open an extremely special tournament.

His thirty under beat the next closest competitor by an impressive eleven strokes.

Johnson was fighting for multiple records all week, but came up short. In the end his competition was truly not even close. Johnson was playing on a whole other level!

With this victory Dustin Johnson has reclaimed his title as number one ranked golfer in the world – edging out Rory Mcilroy for the number one spot with his recent performance.

It is truly amazing to watch Dustin Johnson play whenever his game is in full swing.

The lack of communication caused the team to send a security detail to Cespedes’s room only to find it empty with no sign of him anywhere. In addition, Cespedes had moved out of the room with all of his belongings and was not answering any phone calls or text messages.

Later that day Cespedes’s agent informed the team that he would be opting out of his contract for the 2020 season because of “Covid related reasons”.

Since this announcement an image of Cespedes greeting fans at a shopping mall has gone viral. It all leaves fans wondering what might be the real reasoning behind his opting out of the contract. Does he want easy money or is he protecting the team from a possible virus outbreak?

          Regardless of the reason for Cespedes’s no-notice opt out, he was not helping the Mets much through their first eight games of the season. He was hitting a poor .161 average prior to this incident, and the Mets have a record of 3-7 with a five-game losing streak.

Cespedes is also thirty-four years old and has been battling injuries these past two seasons, so he is likely heading towards the end of his professional baseball career.

The Mets are an up and coming team and could use the leadership of the veteran Cespedes so it will be interesting to see if he decides to continue his tenure with this team and if it changes the team dynamic.

In conclusion, Yoenis Cespedes opted out of his contract just this past weekend without informing team officials and it is uncertain what the future will hold for the remainder of his career.

Sadly, NBA fans were left speculating as to what could have been. What stars would shine and go on a tear during the last month? In this way, the remainder of the 2020 regular season will be played between July 30 and August 14. After that point, each team will be seeded based on its record and begin playoff competition on August 17, 2020.

Currently, players are already quarantining and practicing their game to get back on the professional level of play. Some teams claim they are coming back stronger than ever with all players fully rested, healthy, and in some of the best shape of their lives.

In contrast to some other professional sports, the NBA actually is poised for the most normal return as there have been no additional rule changes due to the shortened season – other than not allowing fans of course.
